pebble beach AGAIN

looks like 'p' joined the blog as eric88. good code name, p! i'll call you ERIC! (yay!)

so we (eric, a___ and i) went to pebble beach with a heavy named scott on sunday.

nice weather, nice friends, great crag. scott got the rope up on big money (yaaaaah!) and this fantastic mixed route which i wish i had a picture of. it was called central scrutinizer, a 5.9. very delicate slab with only teeeny tiny cracks for your smallest nuts. i'm sure that sounds pervy to non-climbers, but that's how it is.

we were split into two busy groups and did not have a photographer, but here's what i have for ya.

that's me leading 'environmental impact.' a__ took that one, and a few more that make this route look overhung! i am so awesome! (but the slings always give away the true direction 'down.' it wasn't even this vertical.)

(the truth is i didn't even finish that route, because i ran clean out of any gear that fit. i of course REALIZED i was out of gear five or six feet above my last decent piece, and i was going to go on except that scott mentioned that the route continued around the bend and i realized i would have only tiny gear plus one #4 for that section.) so i'm learning to downclimb cracks!

i did lead scabies. i like that route.

here is an amazing natural rampart next to big money. the route and this ledge are the only reason one would go to the trouble of coming up the steep chute that is the approach to big money.

eric led razorback AND arrowhead, but i didn't get to see him b/c i was busy hanging ropes with scott. i was going to post a pic of arrowhead sans people, but my good photo vibes have fled for today and i know i must give up and/or upload this pic somewhere else. bleh, blogger is SO BAD with pics.
